Dolla Dolla Bills

My grandma Rita has let me in on a little secret. Thanks to her "savings" plan, I am going to buy a very expensive pair of Tory Burch sandals without taking money out of my paycheck or swiping my credit card. How can this be done? Read on girls...

All I have to do is put aside every dollar bill in my wallet that has the number 11 on it. I know what you're thinking. A) Where the heck is this number 11? (On the right side, there are serial numbers, so just pick your fave). B) By the time I save up enough dollar bills with the number 11 on it, it will  be 2036, and those sandals will be as outdated as Doc Martens (oh, how I used to love those...).

And why the number 11?

That's just Rita's favorite number. You can pick whichever one you want (but I think they stop at 12). To maximize your chances of collecting your number, she advised me to tell my friends to pick different numbers, and then trade ... hence the picture in this post. I guarantee my friends think I am nuts, but they're at least humoring me and doing this. (This is my Non Book Club Book Club ... no books, just booze ... and now a little bill swapping.)

Since I brought Rita's saving system into their lives, we started trading "numbers". Do we feel like we're 85? Yes. Do we care? Not really. We all want to save some cash. And this is just a more fun way of doing it. Are you really going to miss a few singles here and there? Now, every time you break a $20, you'll get a little excited to see if you got any dollar bills that have your number on it. And before you know it, you'll have enough $1's to buy yourself a little something special (or appear like you're working part time at a strip club).

So, let's all thank my Rita Baby, because she is a true "Savvy Mrs.".

  1. Love it! Rita Baby introduced me to her Savings System too and even gave me "starter" dollars to get me launched!

  2. This is so great- and actually in the pic, you girls look like you're doing something really important and scandalous with all of your cash!
